A few great poets

Curse of rejection for standing one's ground
And telling the truth unguessed by sundry
Soldiers of groupthink. Blind justice astounds
Seeing-eye dogs with a simple: "know." The foundry
Arcadia lives! We carry its flame atop.
North winds, try as they may, never put it out.
Desert cave with a single palm stops
Revenge from Jonah like a Whale's spout.
And the boy cries wolf out of anticipation.

Victory laughs him to scorn. And shakes a finger sharply at
Island of Elba: his new home. Or Patmos for his next vacation.
Sanest love guards against rampant harpies: what
Ideologies become for wont of reason over time.
On toward a rigid sphynx's riddle, we now must complete in rhyme.
