Universal Laughter

Ultimately we wait. We wait for the moment
Now and everlasting. The brief inkling of belonging
Drawn from the well of having been there. Comet
Extends a finger to point to discovery's wronging
Revelation. "Oh we see now!" say the blind men,
Stunned by the information. But the satisfaction,
The fulfillment is fleeting. We found the boson.
Although we knew we would, the distraction
Now is what next. So we keep watching,
Drilling down into darkness. While we wait
It is helpful to think of others who have done so
Newton, Einstein, Linus for the Pumpkin Great
Grand unification of silliness and sobriety.
Somewhere a boson laughs at our society.
